News: 15 companies funded by the EIC pilot join Euronext pre-IPO programme TechShare
The programme run by Euronext is trying to help scaling technology companies prepare for public listings and other forms of mature financing. This year, 132 tech companies from 12 countries across Europe are participating in the TechShare program. Amongst them are 15 EIC funded companies that are working on a large variety of fields.
An initial public offering (IPO) can come with many benefits, such as raising capital, increasing public awareness, and growing a company’s market share. However, initiating an IPO can be quite challenging, especially for companies who are new to the process. For this reason, the pan-European stock exchange Euronext started an annual pre-IPO programme, which is designed to support entrepreneurs in learning about capital markets. The TechShare program is now taking place for the fifth time and this year is comprised of three complementary modules: academic campuses, technical sessions, and individual coaching.
The programme is designed as a “pre-IPO” stage initiative, but it is not exclusively for companies pursuing a public listing. It assists companies with pursuing later stage investments from venture capital and private equity backers as well as the public markets, and provides them with the pros and cons of each financing option.
“We call the programme IPO Ready because IPO readiness is the highest state of readiness. If you’re ready for it, you’re ready for anything,” explained the head of listings Orla O’Gorman, during an interview to the Irish magazine Fora.
Euronext’s O’Gorman added that public listings have become more common for companies of various sizes to raise financing. “People keep saying ‘what size do you need to be?’ and there’s a mix around this,” she said. “It’s all about your story and growth trajectory and how much you can interest investors.”
Since 2015, a total of 275 companies have participated in the previous four editions, four of which have listed on Euronext and several others preparing for a listing. This year’s edition will include 132 tech companies, with participants representing a more mature corporate profile overall than in previous years.
