For the first time the EIC is collaborating with the German Association of Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) to introduce your services to the Pharma Supply Chain Managers in company pitches, business speed dating and prescheduled B2B matchmakings. This workshop will take place in Dresden, Germany on the 4th of March and the overall conference takes place from 3rd to the 5th of March 2020. Applications are due on 31 January 2020.

European innovators were taking full advantage of partnering with L’Oréal in Paris, France. Twelve European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot funded companies took the chance to present their groundbreaking technologies within the cosmetics sector on 26-27 November 2019.
This new funding round will enable Vetbiobank to accelerate the industrialization of the company’s product focused on treating canine osteoarthritis.

The European Innovation Council Business Acceleration Services and Roche invite you to apply for our joint EIC Corporate Day Online, a specially designed service to increase and accelerate your business collaborations with Roche, the pharmaceutical giant.
SYNCH, an ongoing EU-funded project, is creating a hybrid system where a neural network in the brain of a living animal and a silicon neural network of spiking neurons on a chip are interconnected by neuromorphic synapses.
For the past couple of years the EIC and EBAN are working together on numerous occasions to bring you the EIC/EBAN ePitching with Investors. On 29 April 2020 the 5th edition was held, this time around the topic of eHealth.
The European Innovation Council brought together over 50 public and private procurers, five European corporates and more than 20 EIC-backed SMEs during the first EIC ePitching with Procurers, a dedicated session on COVID19-solutions. The procurers, public as well as private-sector, and the SMEs had the opportunity to pitch their needs and respective solutions followed by a vote on who pitched the most innovative solutions. Eyecontrol and RESPINOR went home with the prize in their respective pitching-sessions.
A total of 117 innovative solutions to tackle the coronavirus have been selected as winners of the European Innovation Council-led #EUvsVirus Hackathon. The event, which involved over 380 volunteers, 2,400 mentors and over 800 partners, brought together over 20,900 participants from 141 different nationalities, as well as different areas of expertise and backgrounds.
Venture capital investors poured €1.7 billion into European healthcare startups during the first quarter of 2020. For the very first time, the European Innovation Council organised the Coordinators’ Day virtually, meeting the companies funded by the EIC under Phase 2 in an online session. The purpose was to gather the EIC coordinators from the recently awarded projects, get familiar with the project management procedures and discover more in-depth the Business Acceleration Services.
Dr. Regina Luttge is an expert in medical and biological microsystems having bio-inspired functionalities. She coordinates CONNECT, a Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) project, which aims at providing better treatment for neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
Since 4 June 2020, the Swedish biotech company Idogen AB is traded on Nasdaq First North Growth Market. The traditional bell ringing was skipped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the event was featured on the Nasdaq trading floor at Times Square in New York. Idogen AB develops tolerogenic cell therapies to prevent the patient’s immune system from attacking biological agents, transplanted organs or the body’s own cells or tissues.
The Irish company, developing cutting-edge technology to help cure cancers, has secured a significant new Series C round of approximately €18 million, bringing the total equity funding to around €37 million. The capital was led by existing shareholders, including Seamus Mulligan, an experienced biopharmaceutical executive.

The European Innovation Council (EIC), in collaboration with F. Hoffmann-La Roche, organised a four-day long EIC Corporate Day, as part of a virtual Roche Innovation Summit, from 22 to 25 June 2020. The EIC Corporate Day, one of the flag-ship Business Acceleration Services provided by the EIC, gives the EIC-backed startups the opportunity to opportunity to bridge the gap with corporate representatives and explore new synergies, business opportunities and further collaborations with them.
The European Commission in collaboration with FETFX organises the second annual Future Tech Week, which will take place entirely online, from 21 to 25 September 2020. Nanomaterials and nanodevices constitute key technology improving e.g. precision medicine and therapeutic approaches. The BOW project will advance this field by camouflaging them with natural biomembranes from extracellular vesicles.
The PLATFORMA project will produce novel high-content phenotypic platforms for screening cosmetics, pollutants and new therapeutics. The project builds on the results of the Pathfinder (FET-Open) project, MESO-BRAIN, which developed functional 3D human-stem-cell-derived neural networks of defined and reproducible architecture, based on that of a brain cortical module that will display in vivo connectivity and activity.

On 24 September 2020 six EIC-backed innovators had the chance to show their COVID-19 solutions during a dedicated EIC ePitching session with Investors, taking place during the R&I Days 2020. The session was a follow-up of the first EIC ePitching with Investors on COVID-19, which took place in April this year.
On 29-30 September 2020, the EIC Accelerator organised the second Virtual EIC Accelerator Coordinators’ Day of the year, with a record number of 240 participants.

XENOTHERA, a French biotech company funded by the EIC, has publicly confirmed that its anti-Covid-19 treatment, named XAV-19, effectively treats several COVID-19 variants. The XAV-19 treatment is being tested in a clinical trial implemented in around 20 French hospitals.
