European Innovation Council pilot's funded Finnish company ICEYE has been featured in BBC for an impressive demonstration of its novel technology's capabilities. The company is the first in the world to achieve better than 1 meter resolution imagery from under-100kg (220 pounds) SAR satellites. This level of performance is expected from traditional spacecraft that weigh a tonne or more and cost in excess of one hundred million euros, but Iceye's breakthrough satellites are the size of a suitcase and cost only a couple of million to build.

Medical technology company EBAMed announced the successful completion of a CHF 1.2 million seed financing round. EBAMed develops medical devices to enhance protontherapy, a precise non-invasive treatment option for heart arrhythmia patients. The seed financing will be used to test EBAMed‘s first integrated ultrasound-based device to monitor heart motion and command the therapy machine. These pre-clinical tests are planned for 2020 in at least one protontherapy center in Europe or the United States.

108 innovative projects will get support from the European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot to bring their innovations faster onto the market. The total amount to be distributed to the projects under the EIC Accelerator and the Fast Track to Innovation strands of the EIC pilot is €210.216 million. Each project will receive between €0.5 and €3 million. With this funding and extra business acceleration support, innovative companies will be able to finance their close-to-market innovation activities and get on the market faster.

92 companies funded by the SME Instrument under Phase 2 met on 15/16 October, in Brussels, for the Welcome Days. The purpose was to bring the SMEs selected for funding together, in order to network and share experiences. From sessions focused on how to sell to public buyers, to training workshops related to large corporates, the event has tried to address the core challenges SMEs face in a cohesive way.

The EIC-funded company Dawex announced a €5 Million funding round, with eyes set on Middle East presence in 2020.
A total of 287 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form 31 countries have been selected for funding under the last round of the EIC SME Instrument, in the so-called Phase 1 of the programme, now known as the EIC Accelerator. The companies will receive a total amount of €14.15 million to share between their projects to get their innovations faster on the market.
The new agreement will allow the social-impact start-up to implement the Charity Round Up - a new fundraising solution.

The EIC-funded company BotsAndUs announced a partnership with British Airways to provide a solution that will reduce travel stress by assisting all passengers with relevant information to their journey and airport stay.
