European Innovaton Council pilot's SME Instrument-funded company, AlgaEnergy, is exploring microalgae’s wide potential. This year, the AlgaEnergy signed a commercial agreement with a fertilizer leader in Spain, to combine efforts on its products and other agricultural bio stimulants. The company also recently opened a subsidiary in Japan.

EIC pilot funded company Kunak Technologies SL installed today its first air quality device at Stade Louis II in Monaco. The company will provide six more devices that will be installed on athletics tracks around the world in the coming months as part of a pilot programme designed to highlight the need for clean air.

The European Commission is looking for experts to review applications for the EIC Horizon Prize for Affordable High-Tech for Humanitarian Aid. The challenge of this Prize is to develop innovative solutions for the delivery of humanitarian aid based on frugal application of advanced technologies. Medical technology company EBAMed announced the successful completion of a CHF 1.2 million seed financing round. EBAMed develops medical devices to enhance protontherapy, a precise non-invasive treatment option for heart arrhythmia patients. The seed financing will be used to test EBAMed‘s first integrated ultrasound-based device to monitor heart motion and command the therapy machine. These pre-clinical tests are planned for 2020 in at least one protontherapy center in Europe or the United States.
