The EIC created a new Story 18 August 2020
The pandemic brought global uncertainty, transforming how businesses run and how leaders lead. The silver lining is that uncertainty can create opportunities – especially for companies that survive and innovate from the unexpected. But how can businesses reinvent themselves in times of crisis? During the past five weeks, the European Innovation Council offered an online EIC Summer School focusing on several challenges with dedicated training sessions. In partnership with The DO School, the EIC Community events provided tools and key lessons on leveraging capabilities, moving quickly, and maximising teams through crisis and change. Here’s the wrap-up of this Summer learning experience.

The EIC created a new Story 8 July 2020
On 29 and 30 June 33 EIC-beneficiaries went on a digital tour of the Netherlands during the EIC Corporate Day with Dutch giants. During the event, the SMEs matched up and explored business opportunities and collaborations with four of the Netherlands’ largest corporates: Eneco, KPN, Rabobank and Unilever.

On 20-21 October 2020 the European Innovation Council teamed up with Euronext Dublin to bring a two-day EIC Investor Day, packed with panel discussions, seminars, pitching sessions and one-to-one meetings with a vast array of investors.
More than 30 female CEOs of startups, willing to take the next step of their leadership journey, joined the first EIC Community Training on Women in Leadership, which took place on 4 December 2020.
On 30 November 2020 the European Innovation Council (EIC) and Amadeus, one of the leading technological providers for the travel industry, hosted an online EIC Corporate Day, bringing together 15 start-ups.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) pilot delivers real value Business Acceleration Services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) equipped with a grant by the European Commission. After a year filled with networking opportunities, workshops sessions and matchmaking events it’s important to take the time to reflect.
The European Innovation Council Business Acceleration Services invites you to apply for a brand new concept: the EIC Innovation Training Workshop. On 13 and 14 May 2020, you can discover business opportunities, commercialise your projects’ outcomes and obtain tools to bring your innovation to the market. Applications are open until 30 April 2020.
The EIC is pleased to invite all eligible start-ups to participate in our monthly EIC ePitching with Investors. This edition will focus on Internet of Things (IoT) & Smart Cities and will take place on 2 July 2020, 1 pm CET, mark your calendars! The EIC created a new Story 20 January 2020
For the first time the EIC is collaborating with the German Association of Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics (BME) to introduce your services to the Pharma Supply Chain Managers in company pitches, business speed dating and prescheduled B2B matchmakings. This workshop will take place in Dresden, Germany on the 4th of March and the overall conference takes place from 3rd to the 5th of March 2020. Applications are due on 31 January 2020.
The EIC kicked of 2021 with a new EIC ePitching with Investors, this time on the topic of manufacturing, together with EuroQuity-Bpifrance. Seven EIC-funded SMES, all working on innovations related to manufacturing, got the chance to go head-to-head and impress the investor jury.

The EIC-funded company is battling the problem with the taste of tap water in a sustainable way: Tapp 2 is the worlds first smart biodegradable water filter.
EIC-beneficiaries are invited to applied to apply to the International Space Pitch Day, organised and financed by the US Department of Defence and the UK Ministry of Defence in collaboration with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization NATO. On 17 November, selected start-up tech companies and inventors will get the chance to pitch directly to UK and US military leaders for a $1-million investment to fast-track their ideas for cutting-edge Space innovations.

The European Innovation Council pilot Business Acceleration Services and Bpifrance – EuroQuity organised the first EIC Investor Day of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak the physical event was rendered into an all-digital event with separate ePitching-sessions.
The European Innovation Council (EIC), in collaboration with BBVA and Ferrovial, organised an online Corporate Day on 26 and 27 May 2020, bringing together 19 EIC-backed SMEs with over 50 corporates representatives. The online Corporate Day was the second event of its kind to be organised this month and gave SMEs and corporate representatives the opportunity to find synergies and explore business opportunities and further collaborations.

The EIC Accelerator offers optional equity investment in addition to a grant to small companies that want to put their breakthrough innovations on the market. Innovative companies can apply for a grant or up to 17.5 million in combined grant and equity financing to scale-up quickly and effectively.
High potential abounds in the green space. The second e-pitching session of the year was focused on renewable energy and allowed six SME’s to virtually pitch their business ideas to key green energy investors.
The first e-pitching session of 2020 featured four excellent EIC-backed SME’s pitching their business ideas and next investment rounds on cybersecurity to representatives from the European Business Angels Network (EBAN).
The EIC created a new Story 9 July 2020
On 3 and 4 June 2020 the European Innovation Council celebrated the launched of a brand-new initiative specifically focused on the EU Green Deal. The EIC Planet.tech brings together EIC-backed start-ups/scale-ups with four large corporates, namely AB inBev, DEME, Nestle and P&G, with the objective to develop a number of impactful Proof of Concepts (PoC). Nicolas Verschelden, Head of Digital Innovation ABI Europe and Managing Partner Dream Tech alliance, a joint consortium of different tech-partners that co-innovate and co-invest together, goes deeper into AB InBev’s motivations for joining Planet.tech and what they are hoping to get out of it.
Imagine bringing together several European business partners, each with their own green challenges, involving many participants to solve them. This will be the EIC Greenathon, the first online hackathon focused on the European Green Deal. The Danish multinational Danfoss joined the initiative and will literally level up the energy of this competition. In the upcoming days, we will highlight the different challenges and introduce you to the business partners involved in the Greenathon with our new weekly series Green O’ Clock. It’s been three years since the EIC Business Acceleration Services dove into Corporate Days, gathering innovative European SMEs and large corporates to take full advantage of partnering opportunities. Starting off in Sweden, together with ABB, in 2017, the EIC Corporate Days brought SMEs and corporates from across Europe. The EIC created a new Story 22 September 2020
On 14 September 2020 a dozen EIC-backed innovators were invited to an ‘EIC ePitching to Procurers’-session, together with bpost, Belgium’s national postal provider. The SMEs had the opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions on eMobility and charging infrastructure to bpost’s procurement division and engage in pre-arranged business meetings in the hopes of fostering new connections and partnerships.
On 24 September 2020 six EIC-backed innovators had the chance to show their COVID-19 solutions during a dedicated EIC ePitching session with Investors, taking place during the R&I Days 2020. The session was a follow-up of the first EIC ePitching with Investors on COVID-19, which took place in April this year.
The EIC created a new Story 21 February 2020
On 19-20 February 2020, companies supported under the European Innovation Council (EIC)  had the opportunity to accelerate their business collaborating with AB InBev, the world’s leading brewer and one of Europe’s biggest food and drinks companies. AB InBev opened its doors to 32 SMEs to pitch and present their business cases at the group’s Global Innovation and Technology Center (GITEC) in its home city of Leuven, Belgium.
