On 30 November 2020 the European Innovation Council (EIC) and Amadeus, one of the leading technological providers for the travel industry, hosted an online EIC Corporate Day, bringing together 15 start-ups. The start-ups pitched in front of over 280 Amadeus-representatives on topics like data analytics, airports, sustainability and traveller experience and meet with decision makers in dedicated one-to-one meetings.

The European Innovation Council Business Acceleration Services invites EIC Pathfinder beneficiaries (former FET-Open & FET-Proactive ) to apply for the EIC Pathfinder Bootcamp: a virtual four-day intensive course in business and entrepreneurship taking place from 16 to 19 February 2021. Special emphasis will be put on projects/researchers in the fields of Energy, Life Science and Digital/IT.

The EIC created a new Story | 1 month ago, together with the European Commission, will host an e-pitching event on 10 December 2020, showcasing some of the most promising European startups from the healthcare sector. Eight EU-funded SMEs will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations, attract the attention of investors, and convince them of their merits for their next financing rounds. On 24 November 2020 the European Innovation Council (EIC) and Thales & Thales Alenia Space hosted their first online EIC Corporate Day, bringing together 13 of the most innovative start-ups in Europe.  The start-ups, hailing from 9 different countries, namely Italy, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Austria, Ireland and Switzerland, had the opportunity to pitch their innovations to representatives from Thales and Thales Alenia Space and engage in one-to-one’s in the hopes of forging new business relations.

Today, more than 6000 satellites are in space, but only 1300 are operational – the rest remains wandering uncontrolled, increasing the possibility of collisions or the risk of falling back on Earth. The Italian startup D-Orbit developed a ‘space taxi service’ to combat the threat of this trash and has stood out in the overcrowded space market. In October 2020, the EIC-funded company received the first EIB’s space investment and this week, D-Orbit announced a partnership with AAA Clyde Space for ESA-funded project. Open Call - EIC ePitching to Investors on Manufacturing: Made in the EU

The European Innovation Council and Bpifrance are pleased to invite all eligible startups to participate in our monthly EIC ePitching with Investors. This edition will focus on manufacturing and will take place on 26 January 2021, 2 PM (CET).  A limited number of EIC-backed SMEs will have the chance to present their innovative solutions during an online event to a jury of investors – consisting of representatives from Iris CapitalNewfundBasinghall PartnersCaixa Capital RiscBTOV  and Presto Ventures (with more to follow).

Green Innovations: EIC-funded company Skeleton Technologies raised €41.3 million in equity round

The Estonian start-up Skeleton is one of the largest European manufacturers ultracapacitor-based energy storage. The products are used to power and save energy in various applications in the automotive, transportation, grid, and renewable energy industries. The cleantech solutions have caught the attention of new industrial investors and top European entrepreneurs, and the company announced this month a €41.3 million Series D funding round, bringing its total capital raised to over €93 million. The investment is in the top five funding rounds of the cleantech sector in the EU this year and will further accelerate Skeleton's growth.
