European Innovation Council pilot's funded podcast company Acast secures a 25 million € quasi-equity financing agreement with the European Investment Bank. As well as independent podcasts, Acast also looks after the audio content of larger publishers, such as the Financial Times, the Guardian, Vogue, Aftonbladet and Billboard.

EBAMed, an European Innovation Council pilot's funded medical technology company enabling access to non-invasive treatments for heart arrhythmias, announced the successful completion of a CHF 1.2 million seed financing round. This first investment round was led by Fongit Seed Invest with the support of FONGIT, and includes several investors.

CELLINK has entered in an agreement with the owners of cytena GmbH to acquire all cytena shares for a purchase price of 30.25 M€. The Freiburg, Germany – based venture specialises in single-cell printing technology. The deal will expand Cellink’s capabilities in both pharma and cosmetics.

European Innovation Council pilot's funded Finnish company ICEYE has been featured in BBC for an impressive demonstration of its novel technology's capabilities. The company is the first in the world to achieve better than 1 meter resolution imagery from under-100kg (220 pounds) SAR satellites. This level of performance is expected from traditional spacecraft that weigh a tonne or more and cost in excess of one hundred million euros, but Iceye's breakthrough satellites are the size of a suitcase and cost only a couple of million to build.

News: EIC Accelerator Fund Investment guidelines available

The EIC Accelerator offers optional equity investment in addition to a grant to small companies that want to put their breakthrough innovations on the market. Innovative companies can apply for a grant or up to 17.5 million in combined grant and equity financing to scale-up quickly and effectively.

The company is rebranding and changing its name from “CustoMem” to “Puraffinity” to reflect the broad application of its technology to design an array of materials for purification by leveraging the power of chemical affinity principles.
