Silicon Valley-based SVG Ventures | THRIVE has launched a regional challenge to recognize and promote key early and late-stage startups from Agtech and Foodtech. The Challenge is closely aligned with the European Green Deal, which seeks to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 while doubling down on achieving the UN SDG's. The winner will receive the THRIVE Europe Challenge Award and advance to the finals of the Global THRIVE Accelerator Program with an opportunity to be selected for the THRIVE VIII Cohort in Silicon Valley, CA.

On 17 June 2021, the European Innovation Council (EIC) celebrated the official launch of the EIC Overseas Trade Fairs (OTF) 2.0 Programme. The virtual event included a keynote speech from Jean-Eric Paquet, Director General at the European Commission’s Directorate General of Research and Innovation, as well as a panel discussion with the Director of European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), Jean-David Malo and high-level representatives from across the European innovation ecosystem. The EIC also announced the opening of the first most anticipated calls (CES Las Vegas 2022 & Arab Health 2022). 

 

Events - EIC ePitching to Procurers with WIENER LINIEN: Next stop: Austria

For the first time the European Innovation Council organised an ePitching to Procurers Day, together with the Vienna’s public transport operator, WIENER LINIEN and the Austria’s competence center for innovation procurement, IÖB-Servicestelle. This virtual session took place on 9 June 2021 and gave the opportunity to the EIC beneficiaries to pitch their company to public procurers.

On Tuesday 22 June 2021 (14.00-16.00 CET), the European Commission will host a session on how to successfully prepare a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) or Public Procurement of Innovative (PPI) solutions type proposal for the Horizon Europe Programme. This session will complement the webinar organised on 24 March on ‘How to prepare a successful proposal’, and it will focus on the specificities of preparing this type of project proposal.

According to a report developed by Dealroom and Sifted, with support from the European Commission and the European Parliament, the sector received €10B just in 2020. Our guest for today is Dr. Kuan Tan, CTO and co-founder of IQM. IQM is a spin-out from the Aalto University’s Quantum Computing and Devices (QCD) group and the Finnish State Research Centre (VTT) that was established to commercialise superconducting qubit and quantum information processing technologies. Over the past few years, they have assembled the largest (50+) quantum hardware team among private European quantum computing companies.
