Publish an Event
Events on the EIC Community are contributed by the community of members and are uploaded in a Group. Published events also appear in the main Events section, and may come up in suggested lists on the EIC Community Homepage and Topic pages.
You will find the following types of events:
To publish an event in a Group, you must first become a member.
Access the Events section and select the button to add a new event.
Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*)
You will need to add a Title* and Description - you can add and format text, insert images, embed media or create tables. Select the type of event*.
You can specify the event's details by mentioning who the event is organised by, provide a link to an external event website, and a link to the event's Facebook and Twitter pages.
You will need to specify a date* and time*. A calendar will open when you place your cursor on the date field, as shown below:
To add a location to your event, select a country in the drop down list. Once you have selected a country, additional fields will appear so you can complete your location details (fields may change depending on the country selected). The full name corresponds to the name of the venue.
Compared with other content types, events offer the possibility of attaching documents in 3 distinct categories: Agenda and Information, Presentations, and Additional documents. You can select a document from your Media Browser or upload a new file from your local machine.
Tagging is important to help others find your content. You can select up to 3 Topics, with unlimited sub-topics, select a date, language, as well as Regions and Countries.
Creating a new event
When creating any content on the EIC Community, the notification checkbox is by default enabled (more on notifications). You can define comment settings, save your content as draft, cancel your work or publish it. Once you publish your event, an activity stream message will appear on the Group's homepage (more on activity streams).
Updating an event
When editing any content on the EIC Community a notification checkbox is by default disabled (more on notifications). In addition to edits to the content itself, you can save your changes, view your changes, cancel the operation, unpublish or delete the content.
